My Favourite Albums of the Decade

It's an information age, so they say, so it's worth noting that this long list was aggregated from my Discogs collection (and wantlist), actual blog data, an archive of my review contributions to Rolling Stone Australia (RIP, or not?) and a bunch of much-flogged playlists ("Dinner Party", "AU" etc). Yet, it's still (highly) likely I've missed something big, be it a Black Wire band that haven't been able to get their music onto streaming services or some weird-pop album I was never comfortable writing about etc etc.

While we're drowning this in disclaimers, I should also note that I, generally speaking, struggle with these kind of lists. For one, I find them to be deeply flawed for the fact they're (at least when I'm making them) assembled from a single nostalgic viewpoint, with all albums/movies/lovers/whatever ranked with a strong chaser of reflection. I've tried to navigate around that by including albums that I distinctly remember listened to a lot during specific times of the past decade (for whatever specific reason - salvation, comfort, peer pressure), but measuring those against more recent records that I've not broken from and revisited (yet) is clearly a non-level playing field. For this same reason, there's also only one album from 2019 (no guesses for what was my favourite album of the year then) and not even that many from 2017 onwards (although that also could be attributed to the fact I moved away from professionally writing about music around that time.)

Urgh. All apologies and asterisks aside, here's a big fucking list (kinda not in any specific order, but also kinda exactly in the order you think it's in)...
